Catholic Relief Service’s Rice Bowl
Encounter the season of Lent through daily reflections and weekly stories about families from different countries illustrating a principal of Catholic social teaching – an essential element of Catholic faith that says every human being is created in the image of God and redeemed by Jesus Christ, and therefore is invaluable and worthy of respect as a member of the human family.  As an example, all the faithful of  are encouraged to take part in Operation Rice Bowl.  This is a Lenten program whereby participants are asked to eat lesser meals as part of their Lenten Sacrifice.  The money saved is then placed in symbolic rice bowls and donated at the end of Lent. You can pick up a collection bowl at the doors of the Cathedral.
